Brockport's Mark Lineweaver will forever be known as the first Golden Eagle in track & field program-history to win an NCAA Division III National title. He accomplished the feat in impressive fashion in 1975 when he dominated the competition and posted a school-record score of 7101 in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Baldwin Wallace College in Barea, Ohio.
He earned 10 team points for Brockport as the Golden Eagles tied for 24th in the team event at Nationals. At the time, the Division III national champion was allowed to go on to compete at the Division I championships if they had the Division I qualifying standard. Lineweaver placed 10th at the NCAA Division I Championships in the decathlon in 1975.
Lineweaver's school-record mark of 7101 ranks eighth on the NCAA Division III all-time list (scoring tables changed in 1985). Lineweaver also placed third in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in 1974.
At graduation, he owned school records in the 100 meters, long jump, pole vault, pentathlon, decathlon and contributed a leg to the mile relay school-record. He is still the school-record holder in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.60.
Lineweaver helped guide Brockport to the SUNYAC Outdoor team championship in 1974. He was a 1980 Olympic hopeful and in 1978 he took home 4th place at US Nationals in the decathlon with a score of 7670.
Brockport Athletics Hall of Fame

In 2009, a "contributors" category was added to honor individuals who have made a significant impact on the College's athletics program and/or the honoree's professional field after attending or working at Brockport.
