Geneva, NY – On Friday, the Golden Eagle volleyball team swept Thiel, 3-0, at day one of the William Smith Tournament. Picking up the first win of the season to improve to 1-4, Head Coach Jim Clar collects his first win at Brockport.
The Golden Eagles got off to a rapid start with a dominant, 25-11, effort in the first set. They faced more resistance from Thiel in the second set, but still got the win, 25-18. The third set looked a lot like the first, as the 25-12 win completed the 3-0 sweep.
Jordan Thompson once again led the team with 16 kills.
Alenna Williamson had an incredibly efficient performance with 12 kills on just 17 total attacks.
Brockport totaled 14 service aces in the match for a season-high.
Gianna Felipe had four aces, while
Brooklyn Sullivan and
Elsie Logan each had three. Logan also made plays defensively with a team-high 12 digs.
Setter
Ashley Allen chipped in all over in the match. She led the team with 17 assists to go with two aces, one block assist, five digs, and four kills on four attacks.
Kaitlyn Jewett tallied nine assists and teammate
Arrica Silliman had six.
The William Smith Tournament continues Saturday, as the Golden Eagles will play two matches to close out the weekend. They will face Hartwick at 3:30pm before a 6pm match against host William Smith.
