Women's Basketball Hits the Road for a Pair of SUNYAC Matchups

Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team will hit the road for a pair of SUNYAC matchups this weekend, beginning with a matchup against Plattsburgh State on Friday, January 12th at 5:30 pm. The Golden Eagles will have a quick turnaround as they will head to Potsdam to take on the Bears on Saturday, January 13th at 2 pm.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles were victorious in their home return from holiday break, taking down Buffalo State, 76-65, on Tuesday, January 9th. Brockport improved to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in SUNYAC play following the win.
 
Zairea Hannah was dominant throughout, leading the contest with 18 rebounds and 7 blocks, and adding 9 points. Hannah set career highs in both blocks (7) and assists (6) against the Bengals.
 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste turned in an effective shooting performance, dropping 18 points on 7-15 shooting from the floor and 50% shooting from long distance (3-6 from three).
 
Zoe Zutes continued her run of stellar play, turning in her best performance as a Golden Eagle. Zutes scored a game-high 23 points, filling up the stat sheet with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. She set career highs in points (23), field goals made (9), 3-point field goals made (3), and assists (4) against Buffalo State.
 
Freshman Firepower: Earning her third start of the season against Buffalo State, Mandy Brink will enter the weekend coming off her most well-rounded performance as a Golden Eagle. Across 25 minutes of action, Brink scored 8 points, while also adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists, both career highs across her first season as Golden Eagle.  
 
Scouting Plattsburgh State: The Cardinals will enter Friday's matchup with a 6-5 overall record and a 3-2 mark in SUNYAC play. Following a 3-5 start to the season, Plattsburgh has strung together 3 straight SUNYAC wins, currently a game ahead in front Brockport in the SUNYAC standings. The Cardinals boast a balanced scoring attack, with 4 players averaging 9 ppg or more, led by Payton Couture and her 13.9 ppg. The Golden Eagles have shown dominance in the head-to-head series as of late, winning the last 6 matchups against Plattsburgh.
 
Scouting Potsdam: The Bears sit at 5-6 overall with a 1-4 record in conference play, most recently falling to Plattsburgh at home 49-45. Jakia Howard leads the Bears in both scoring and rebounding, dropping 18.8 points and grabbing 11.2 rebounds per game. Howard currently leads the SUNYAC in scoring and currently ranks second in rebounds per game. The head-to-head series has been very competitive, with both Potsdam and Brockport taking 4 of the 8 matchups.
