Women's Basketball Begins Home Weekend With We Back Pat Night

Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team will return home for a pair of SUNYAC contests this weekend, beginning with the We Back Pat game against Potsdam on Friday, January 26th at 5:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles will then take on Plattsburgh on Saturday at 2 p.m.

We Back Pat: Friday night will be the Golden Eagle's annual We Back Pat game to benefit the Pat Summitt Foundation, a fund of East Tennessee Foundation. We Back Pat week started in 2012 in the Southeastern Conference to show support for legendary Lady Vol basketball coach Pat Summitt after her diagnosis of early-onset dementia, Alzheimer's type. Since then, We Back Pat games have been adopted by high schools and colleges across the country to support Pat's legacy, raising funds for the Pat Summitt Foundation and promoting awareness. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Morgan Vance at mvance@patsummitt.org.

Last Outing: The Golden Eagles dropped a tight SUNYAC showdown at Fredonia on Tuesday, 60-58. Brockport fell to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in SUNYAC play following the loss.

Zoe Zutes led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 17 points, adding nine rebounds and three blocks.

Zairea Hannah recorded another double-double, scoring 13 points and snatching 20 rebounds for the third time this year.

Mandy Brink finished with eight points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Controlling the Boards: Following her third 20-rebound effort of the season, Zairea Hannah ranks among the best in the country in rebounding. Her 13.2 rebounds per game and 5.0 offensive rebounds per game are good for 8th best in the country, with Hannah's 225 total rebounds being good for 5th best in the country.

Home Sweet Home: The Green and Gold return home after playing 8 of the last 10 games on the road, hoping to end a two-game slide. The Golden Eagles have been a different unit when playing at home, holding a 5-2 record and recording blowout wins over Keuka, Oneonta, and William Smith.

Looking at Potsdam: The Bears scored a 61-51 win over Brockport in Potsdam back on January 13th. Potsdam has not fared well since, dropping back-to-back SUNYAC contests against New Paltz and Oneonta, falling to 6-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play. Jakia Howard has been outstanding for Potsdam, leading the team with 18.1 ppg and 10.4 rebounds.

Looking at Plattsburgh: Brockport will enter Saturday looking for the season sweep over the Cardinals, defeating Plattsburgh 70-64 back on January 12th. The Cardinals are in the midst of a 4-game losing streak, currently sitting at 6-9 overall and 3-6 in conference play. Brockport will look to extend their winning streak to 8 in head-to-head action against Plattsburgh.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will begin a three-game road trip as they take on Buffalo State on Tuesday, January 30th at 5:30 p.m.
