Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team outbattled Buffalo State at home Tuesday night, improving to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC. The Golden Eagles outlasted the Bengals in overtime, 79-75.
 
Caquan Wester posted his second double-double in a row, leading Brockport with 17 points and 14 rebounds. He finished 7-for-14 from the floor offensively and came up with three steals on defense.
 
Tony Arnold filled the stat sheet with 13 points, five assists, four boards, and three steals. 
Alex Tavarez hit double-digits for the sixth game in a row, putting up 12 points off the bench to go with four boards.
 
The visiting Bengals came out strong to start the contest, jumping out to an 8-2 lead. They would build the advantage to double-digits near the halfway point of the first, going up 23-13. Brockport would respond well to close the half, closing the gap before halftime. Buffalo State went into halftime holding onto a slim, 39-35, lead.
 
As the second half got rolling, it didn't take long for the Golden Eagles to tie the score up at 47-47. They soon took their first lead of the game, but Buffalo State was ready with an answer. With 6:33 on the clock the two conference opponents were tied up once again, 56-56. Both teams traded baskets down the stretch, sending the game into overtime with a 69-69 score at the end of regulation.
 
The Green and Gold struck first in overtime, but the Bengals bounced back once again. Three straight stops on defense had a huge impact on the final result, as the Golden Eagles created a 77-73 edge on the scoreboard. They held on for the 4-point victory at home in overtime, 79-75.
 
Brockport is on the road this weekend for a pair of SUNYAC contests. The squad takes on Plattsburgh at 7:30pm on Friday night and will then face Potsdam on Saturday at 4pm.
