Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team had its undefeated streak halted on Saturday with a 2-0 loss at home to St. John Fisher. Giving up a goal for the first time all year, Brockport moves to 10-1-1 overall and 6-1 in the Empire 8 after the loss.
The first half was physical and competitive with each team fighting for the top spot in the conference standings. The visiting Cardinals outshot Brockport 11-7 in the first half. This included a goal right before halftime.
At 41:33, St. John Fisher took a 1-0 lead thanks to an unassisted score from Emily Woolingham. She becomes the first opponent player to score on Brockport this season. The Golden Eagles entered halftime trailing, 1-0.
Early on in the second half, Fisher would find a second goal. This time it was Siobhan McMakin at 48:25, assisted by Emma Spelman. McMakin pushed the Cardinal lead to 2-0 with plenty of time left on the clock.
Brockport did outshoot Fisher in the second half, 6-5, but the opposing keeper was up to the challenge. Avery Byrnes made five saves to secure the clean sheet for the Cardinals, as they held on for a 2-0 win.
The Golden Eagles had several chances to get on the scoreboard in the match.

In 90 minutes of action in net, Brockport's
Madeline McCrosson made four saves and allowed a pair of goals.
