Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's soccer team is set to host the Alfred University Saxons on Wednesday, October 16th at 7pm and will be on the road to Elmira to face the Soaring Eagles on Saturday, October 19th for a 1pm start.
A Look at Last Week – On Wednesday, October 9th the Golden Eagles traveled to Nazareth where they shut out the Golden Flyers, 5-0, making program history. Brockport was undefeated through eleven games (10-0-1) for the first time ever, without allowing a single goal.
In the win over Nazareth,
Megan Gerber opened the scoring sheet with an assist from
Kellie Gentile. 10 minutes later,
Caitlin Nelson found the back of the net with an assist from
Jaylah Cossin. After the assist, Cossin went on to score a goal of her own securing a 3-0 lead going into halftime. Just three minutes into the second,
Sierra Edwards shot a rocket past the goalkeeper with yet another assist from
Jaylah Cossin. To finish out the day,
Caitlin Nelson netted her second of the game for a 5-0 final.
On Saturday, October 12th, the Green and Gold played at home with a tough matchup against St. John Fisher. Brockport's streak was brought to an end with a 2-0 loss at home. The team fought hard with seven shots in the first half and six in the second.

Katie Hotaling all had one shot on goal to contribute. The loss moves the Golden Eagles to 10-1-1 overall and 6-1 in the Empire 8.
Alfred and Elmira Preview – The Saxons currently sit at 6-2-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the E8 Conference. Last season Alfred finished out at 4-6-7 overall and 2-1-5 in the conference. Elmira this season sits at 3-7-2 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The Soaring Eagles finished out the 2023 season with a 3-10-4 record overall and 0-5-3 in conference play.
Postseason Bound - At 6-1 in conference play, Brockport has 18 points in the standings which has clinched a postseason berth for the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. Brockport and St. John Fisher, also 6-1 with 18 points, are the first two teams to qualify for the postseason. Now the Golden Eagles fight for a chance at hosting rights when the tournament begins in early November (1st Round - Nov. 2nd).
Up Next - Following this week's slate, Brockport returns home on Saturday, October 26th for Senior Day. The match will begin at 3pm against Utica University.
