Field Hockey Stays Undefeated in E8 Play With Win Over Keuka

Brockport, NY- The Brockport field hockey team rolled past Keuka College, 4-0, on Wednesday, October 2nd. The Golden Eagles moved to 7-3 on the season with an undefeated 3-0 mark in the Empire 8.
 
Despite a 10 to 1 shot advantage, both teams went scoreless in the opening frame, with Keuka goalie Jordan Nichols making six stops in the quarter.
 
Entering the final two minutes of the second period scoreless, Paige Thowe would open the scoring with an unassisted goal to put Brockport up 1-0 entering the halftime break.
 
The Golden Eagle offense would finally breakthrough in the third, with Samantha Choate and Allison Greene (Kelsey Zehr AST) both scoring within three minutes of each other, giving Brockport a 3-0 lead.
 
Adding to their excellent outings, Kelsey Zehr would find Paige Thowe for her second goal of the contest, leading to a 4-0 Brockport victory.
 
The Golden Eagles were dominant throughout, outshooting the Wolves 46 to 6 (30-2 SOG).
 
Jordan Nichols of Keuka was strong in defeat, making 25 stops across 60 minutes of action.
 
Ella Buchanan (W, 6-2) picked up her third shutout of the season, making two saves in the win.
 
Paige Thowe led all players with 12 shots (8 SOG) and two goals in an excellent effort.
 
Kelsey Zehr posted two points, leading all players with two assists on the day.
 
Up Next: Brockport will look to stay undefeated in Empire 8 play as they head to Russell Sage on Saturday, October 5th at 3 p.m.
