Brockport, NY - The Brockport field hockey team was eliminated from the Empire 8 Tournament, falling to Hartwick at home in the semifinals, 2-0, on Thursday, November 7
th. Brockport finishes the 2024 season 13-6 overall, with a 7-3 record in E8 play.

The Hawks applied pressure from the get-go, with four shots on goal in the first 8:09.
Ella Buchanan saved all four chances, keeping Brockport within striking distance throughout. Â Â

Brockport had the most offensive success in the first quarter, posting three shots on goal in the period. Chances from
Paige Thowe (2) and
Gianna Salerno would be denied by Hartwick goalie Ashley Luppens.

Hartwick would mirror its first quarter in terms of shots, posting seven more chances in the second period. Much like the first,
Ella Buchanan was up to the task, making another six saves for 12 in the opening half alone.

The Hawks would break the scoreless tie at the 26:13 mark of the contest, with Katelyn Klotz giving Hartwick a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Despite a close 1-0 score coming out of the break, the Hartwick defense would control the remainder of the contest. The Golden Eagles would be held to just one shot across 30 minutes in the second half.

Despite four more saves in the third for Buchanan, Hartwick would double its lead. Danielle Hand would sneak a shot past Buchanan's short side for the Hawks to go up 2-0.

Hartwick would hold on in the final frame for the 2-0 win, holding Brockport to just one 4
th-period shot attempt.

Ella Buchanan provided an excellent effort in her final game in the Green and Gold. She would make a season-high 19 saves with just two goals allowed.

Paige Thowe would lead all Brockport shooters with two shots on net.

With 13 wins on the season, the Golden Eagles posted its most successful season since 1994 (14 wins) and are tied for the 3
rd most wins in program history. Brockport's 24 wins in the last two seasons mark the most in back-to-back seasons since 1980-81 (26). The 2024 squad is the first on record to post a perfect road record in a single season.Â
