Brockport, NY - The #4 seeded Brockport women's basketball team will host the opening round of the SUNYAC Tournament against #5 Oswego State on Tuesday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles will enter Tuesday's matchup on a 4-game winning streak, the second-longest active streak in the SUNYAC.
Last Time Out: Brockport earned a Senior Day win over Geneseo in overtime, 66-57, on Saturday, February 17
th.
Before the start of the game, a Senior Day celebration for
Kelsey Morgans,
Zairea Hannah,
Hali Lucia, and
Zoe Zutes took place to recognize their accomplishments both on and off the court.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Zoe Zutes finished with a team-high 16 points to go with her seven boards.
Anna Lee hit double figures as well, putting up 10 points in the game.
Kelsey Morgans and
Mandy Brink made key shots, as both tallied eight points.
Quality Wins: Amid a 4-game winning streak, all four Brockport victories came against teams in the SUNYAC Tournament. The Golden Eagles have scored wins against Oneonta (79-75, #6 seed), Cortland (84-80, #2 seed), Oswego (71-55, #5 seed), and Geneseo (66-57, #3 seed).
No Place Like Home: The Golden Eagles have been a different team in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium, posting a 9-3 record on their home hardwood. Averaging 15.7 ppg,
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste has raised her scoring output at home, scoring 18 ppg in her last three home outings.
Heating Up: Both having strong seasons,
Zoe Zutes and
Anna Lee have raised their level of play entering the postseason. Across the 4-game-winning streak, Zutes has scored 15+ points and hit 3+ threes in three of the last four games on the way to averaging 16.0 ppg and 2.0 blocks per game.
Anna Lee has eclipsed double-digit scoring in her last three outings, as well as eight of the last 10 games.
Scouting Oswego: The Lakers and Golden Eagles split their two regular-season contests, with both teams coming out on top on their home floor. Oswego enters the first round with a 13-11 overall record and a 9-9 mark in SUNYAC play, most recently defeating Buffalo State at home. Brockport will enter Tuesday's game looking to advance to the second round of the SUNYAC tournament for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
