Women's Basketball Downed by Oswego in the 1st Round of SUNYACs

Brockport, NY - The Brockport women's basketball team fell in the opening round of the SUNYAC Tournament against Oswego, 70-47, on Tuesday, February 20th
 
The Lakers got hot early and stayed in front for the entirety of the contest. They were fueled by an efficient 47% (8-17 FG) shooting from the floor and 66.6% (4-6 3PT) shooting from beyond the arc in the first quarter.
 
Zairea Hannah kept the Golden Eagles within striking distance, scoring all of Brockport's first 15 points. She was key in bringing the Golden Eagles within eight points in the 2nd quarter.
 
With 45 seconds left in the 2nd, Macey DeOrdio capped off an incredible first half. The Laker made her 7th 3-pointer of the half without a miss, sending Oswego into the half with an 18-point lead.
 
DeOrdio would finish with a game-high 30 points on 8-for-10 shooting from three. She tied the single-game record for three-pointers in a SUNYAC Tournament game. 
 
Oswego would control the remainder of the contest, holding Brockport to just 28 2nd half points to roll to a 23-point win. 
 
Zhane Holmes was strong for Oswego, dropping 13 points on 50% shooting with six rebounds.
 
Zoe Zutes was sound defensively, snatching four steals with seven rebounds.  
 
Zairea Hannah was excellent for Brockport. She led the team with 23 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

The Golden Eagles have now been eliminated from posteason play following the loss, as Oswego advances to the SUNYAC Semifinals on Friday. Brockport finishes the year 14-12 overall with a conference mark of 10-8.

Head Coach Corinne Jones set a new career-high in wins this season (14), including a 9-4 mark at home for the program's best home record since 2009 (11-3). This season she brought Brockport to the postseason for the seventh time in eight seasons, earning postseason hosting rights for the first time since taking over the program.
