Union, NJ – The Brockport baseball team fell to Kean University, 12-2, on Sunday, Febuary 25
th. The Golden Eagles moved to 0-2 on the season following the loss.
The Golden Eagles started strong, jumping out to a 2-0 lead entering the bottom the 2
nd, thanks to a
Brian Tietjen RBI single in the first and a
James Simoncelli RBI groundout in the 2
nd.
With Brockport holding a 2-1 lead in the third, the Cougars would begin to take control, with Phil Marcantonio launching a three run homer to put Kean ahead 4-2.
As Kean looked to extend its 5-2 lead, the Golden Eagles would fall victim to a 5-run 6
th inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Justin Teixeira and Kyle Adorno (4 hits).
Two 8
th inning runs from the Cougars would extend the lead to 10 (12-2), effectively putting the contest out of reach.
Nick Nemes picked up the win for Kean in relief, going a scoreless 4.2 innings with 4 strikeouts.
Logan Wing was strong at the plate for Brockport, going 2/4 on the day.
Brian Tietjen went 1/3 with a run batted in, reaching base safely twice.
Eric Servellon pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings out of the bullpen with a punch out.
