Box Score Myrtle Beach, SC – The Golden Eagles played one of two games scheduled against Keystone College today. The second game of the day got canceled due to heavy rains. Brockport got its first win of the season, 6-3, moving to 1-2 overall.
Matt McGowan earned his first win of the season today after pitching 5.0 innings. McGowan faced 51 at bats, let up five hits, one run, one error and one walk. He struck out three players.
Brian Tietjen got the boys moving with a big first inning. With
Josh Indek,
Zach Eldred and
TJ Strevell all on base, Tietjen tripled, sending all three men home. Brockport started the game up 3-0.
Keystone failed to retaliate, and
Steven Ciancio III singled to right field bringing home
Jason Mansell, scoring Brockport's fourth run of the game in the second inning.
Indek landed on first base in the fourth inning, due to an error on the pitcher. He ended up stealing second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Eldred singled to right field, batting in Indek and ending the fourth inning with the Golden Eagles fifth run of the day.
Keystone scored its first run in the top of the 5
th inning.
No more runs came in until the bottom of the sixth. Indek singled and then stole second base. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch.
Troy Leibert pitched 1.2 innings, letting up five hits, two runs and two errors. He struck out one opponent across eleven at bats in relief.
Keystone scored two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Anthony Lapine came in to pitch for the final out of the game with a strike out against the one batter he faced.
Brockport will face Bridgewater State University, tomorrow at 3:30pm for the first game of the final double header down in Myrtle Beach.
