Rochester, NY – Friday marked the first day of the NCAA Diving Regional competition for
Kyra Russ of the Golden Eagle swim and dive team.
Russ and the rest of the women divers took to the 1-meter diving board for Friday's slate. Earning a score of 393.50 on the day, she placed 11
th out of 19 competitors in the event.
Getting 11 dive attempts to rack up the highest score possible, Kyra had three rounds that netted over 40.0 points. Her sixth dive scored 44.40 points and her eighth dive was given 40.25 points.
She finished strong, as her final dive in the 11
th go around provided her highest score of the day. Russ earned a 45.10 on the final attempt of the day.
Kyra will be back in action for the second and final day of the regional competition on Saturday. The official women's 3-meter diving event is scheduled to begin at 3pm, back at RIT.
