Traudt and DelVecchio Shine as Brockport Sweeps St. Lawrence in Doubleheader

Auburndale, FL – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team played St. Lawrence University in a set of games on Saturday. Brockport bet St. Lawrence 6-5 in the first game and 7-1 in the second.
 
Game One: The Saints got ahead early in the second game, scoring a home run in the first inning. Brockport's Brian Tietjen walked in th third, bringing home Aaron Sisto for Brockport's first run of the game.
 
St Lawrence scored their second run in the fourth. They scored twice in the sixth and one more time in the top of the seventh. Brockport headed into the final inning down 5-1.
 
Zach Eldred brought home Frank Vanzillotta and Steven Ciancio III with a single, earning two more runs. Cole Traudt was up to bat with one out remaining and hit his first home run of the season, bringing home Tim McClare and Eldred scoring the final three runs needed to pull off the win.
 
Colin Pytlak pitched the first 4.1 innings, striking out three batters, allowing two runs and five hits across 18 at bats. Eric Servellon came in to pitch 1.2 innings letting up two runs and three hits across seven at bats. Troy Leibert pitched the final inning and earned his first win of the season after letting up one hit and one run across four at bats.
 
Game Two: The Golden Eagles came out of the gate swinging in game two. Josh Indek singled in the second, bringing home Cole Traudt for the first run of game two.
 
Traudt was the man of the hour once again, hitting his second home run of the day, batting in both Teitjen and David Belsito to putt Brockport up 4-0 heading into the fourth.
 
Traudt earned another RBI in the top of the 4th after batting home Josh Indek with a single to right field. Nick Mahar singled and brought home Frank Vanzillotta for the sixth run of the game.
 
David Belsito brought home Tietjen with a sacrifice fly to center field, helping the Golden Eagles score their seventh and final run of the game.
 
St. Lawrence earned their first run of the game in the bottom of the seventh, before running out of opprotunties.
 
Justin DelVecchio pitched great in game two of the doubleheader. DelVecchio struck out seven batters, let up five hits and no runs across six innings and 23 at bats. Brendan Pajak came in to pitch the final inning, letting up three hits and one run across 6 at bats.
 
Brockport will head back to the fields tomorrow afternoon for a 6pm start against the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in a Junior Varsity match up.
