Brockport, NY - The Brockport Baseball team rode a balanced performance to a 9-1 home opener win against SUNY Poly on Friday, March 29
th. The Golden Eagles improved to 9-3 on the season following the win, increasing their winning streak to 6 games.

Brockport would strike first in the opening frame, with
Zach Eldred's sacrifice fly scoring Josh Index to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third,
Zach Eldred would drive home another run for his second RBI of the day, quickly followed by a
Cole Traudt RBI groundout to put Brockport ahead 3-0.

The Wildcats would chip into the lead in the 4
th, scoring their first and only run thanks to a Ryan Pelton RBI groundout to make the score 3-1 Brockport.

In the top of the 7
th inning,
Justin DelVecchio would make quick work of the opposition, punching out 3 Wildcats on 9 pitches for an immaculate inning. DelVecchio would go two hitless innings with 5 strikeouts. Â Â Â

The Golden Eagles would take control in the 8
th inning, taking advantage of two Wildcat errors to score 6 runs in the inning, highlighted by
TJ Strevell's RBI triple and
Josh Indek's RBI single.

Troy Leibert would lock up the win for Brockport, tossing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts to give Brockport the 9-1 victory. Â Â

Ryan Peters (W, 2-1) was excellent throughout, providing 5 innings of 1 hit baseball with 5 strikeouts in a winning effort.

Aaron Kifer (L, 3-1) was strong in defeat for SUNY Poly, allowing just 3 runs across 6 innings of work.

Josh Indek would finish the contest with 3 hits, 2 runs, and a stolen bag for the Green and Gold.

Frank Vanzillotta (2/4, 1BB) and
Logan Wing (1/2, 2BB) both reached base safely 3 times for Brockport.
