Cortland, NY – The Brockport Golden Eagles split a pair of neutral site games against Skidmore College today down at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex. Brockport dropped the first game 8-3 but rallied winning the second 10-3.
Game One – Michael Heilig started on the mound today pitching 2.2 innings. Heilig struck out two batters, let up ten hits and seven runs across 17 batters.
Skidmore started the game with two runs in the first inning.
Josh Indek singled on his first at bat of the day.
Frank Vanzillotta reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on a throwing error. Indek was out at second base.
Zach Eldred hit a single bringing home Vanzillotta for the first run of the day for the Golden Eagles.
Colin Pytlak came in to pitch in the third, pitching 1.1 innings. Pytlak struck out two batters and let up one hit across five at bats.
Skidmore scored four runs in the third inning and then the team's final run of the game in the fifth.
Keegan Jarvais came in to the game at the top of the fifth inning, stiking out two batters, letting up three hits, one run and one walk across 11 at bats.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Eldred doubled.
TJ Strevell doubled bating in Eldred for Brockport's second run of the game.
Josh Indek scored the final run of the 8-3 game in the bottom of the seventh.
Aaron Sisto was hit by a pitch and landed himself on first.
Kyle Blake reached first on a fielded choice and was then tagged out at second.
Frank Vanzillotta doubled batting in Indek for the final run.
Game Two – Eric Servellon started game two on the mound, pitching one inning and striking out two batters. Indek got the ball rolling early in the second game scoring first. Indek walked, Vanzillotta sacrificed on a bunt nudging Indek to second. Eldred singled bringing him home to score.
Tyler Pohlman stepped in to pitch the next three innings, striking out six batters, letting up two hits and one walk across 11 at bats.
Matt Mayer had a day hitting a single to bat home Mahar early in the second.
Logan Wing was next up to bat, hitting a single that brought home Mayer. Indek singled and Wing advanced to second. Vanzillotta reached on a fielder's choice and Indek advanced to second. Wing was out at third.
Zach Eldred tripled batting in both Indek and Vanzillotta for the fourth and fifth runs of the game sending Brockport into the bottom of the second up 5-0.
Cole Traudt starting the third inning with a single.
Nick Mahar followed that with another single and advance to second on the throw, putting Traudt on third. Wing singled and batted in both Traudt and Mahar for runs six and seven. Brockport led 7-0 heading into the fourth.
Vanzillotta started the top of the fourth with a walk, followed by his 10
th successful stolen base of the season. He advanced to third on an overthrown failed pickoff attempt. Eldred flied out to center field on a sacrifice fly bringing home Vanzilotta for his 17 RBI of the season.
Brockport scored again in the top of the fifth.
Matthew Coon walked, followed by a walk from Mahar. Mayer was hit by pitch. With bases loaded, Indek reached first on a fielder's choice where Mahar was tagged out and Coon made it home. Brockport went into the bottom fifth leading 9-0.
Skidmore scored the only three runs of its game in the bottom of the fifth.
Brockport scored its final run in the top of the sixth. Eldred started the inning off with a triple. Traudt hit a sacrifice fly to left field batting Eldred home for the final run of the 10-3 game.
Pierce Mehigan started the fifth inning on the mound and pitched two walks.
Brendan Pajak came in to finish the inning and ended the day with 2 strike outs, one walk, two hits and three runs across five at bats.
Angelo Agro came in to finish the game pitching 2.0 innings, striking out five batters and letting up two walks across five at bats.
Brockport looks to start the last conference season in the SUNYAC Monday, April 1st with a home double header against Fredonia State at 12pm and a single game Tuesday April 2
nd at 2pm.
