Syracuse, NY – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team went today against Oswego State at Onondaga Community College. The Golden Eagles are now 15-8 overall and 4-4 in the SUNYAC.
Game One – Matt McGowan started game one on the mound pitching 5.0 innings. McGowan struck out seven batters, let up seven runs and eight hits. He walked two players across the 26 batters he faced.
Zach Eldred doubled to left center in the top of the first inning, bringing home
Josh Indek for the first run of the day. The Men got ahead early when
TJ Strevell flied out to center field in a sacrifice fly batting in Eldred for run number two.
Brockport kept the ball rolling in the second once
Logan Wing reached first on a fielder's choice and advanced to second.
David Belsito landed on third and
Nick Mahar scored dur to an error on the third basemen. Eldred flied out to right field in a sacrifice fly brining home Wing for run number four.
Cole Traudt singled to left field batting in Indek for the fifth run of the game.
Oswego scored their first run of the game in the third. They earned three more runs in the third due to a homerun.
Brockport kept the lead in the top of the fifth earning two more runs.
Jason Mansell singled to second base brining home Strevell and Mahar singled to center field batting in Mansell.
Oswego hit another home run in the bottom of the fifth making the score 7-7 and then pulled ahead after a double in the bottom of the sixth. Oswego lead Brockport 9-7 heading into the top of the seventh.
Belsito singled to left field, batting in Strevell. Mansell advanced to second and then all the way home on an error by the pitcher.
TJ Strevell broke the tied score in the top of the eighth with a single to right field batting in Eldred for the Golden Eagles final run of game one.
Oswego hit two home runs in the bottom of the ninth ending the close battle of the Green and Gold.
Angelo Agro pitched 3.0 innings and let up two hits, two runs and two walks. Agro struck out three batters across the 13 he faced.
Anthony Lapine finished off game one pitching two home runs across the two batters faced.
Game Two – Justin Delvecchio started game two on the mound for the Green and Gold Justin pitched 3.0 innings, struck out five batters, let up five hits, five runs and no walks across the 15 batters faced.
Oswego scored first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second.
Brockport's
Cole Traudt got the ball rolling, reaching first on an error by the center fielder which brought Belsito to third and Wing home for the first Golden Eagle run of the game.
TJ Strevell advanced to second on a passed ball, Traudt advanced to third and Belstio scored.
Nick Mahar singled to the pitcher, Mansell advanced to second, TJ advanced to third and Tradut scored for run number three.
Oswego scored two more runs in the third, putting the Golden Eagles down 3-5 heading into the fourth.
Cole Traudt doubled to center field batting in Belsito for the fourth run of the game.
Oswego scored another run in the bottom of the fifth.
Brockport scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh. Strevell doubled down the line batting in Traudt for run number five. Mahar grounded out to second base, putting Mansell on third and bringing Strevell home for run number six.
Frank Vanzillotta reached first on an error by the second basemen, brining home Mansell.
Oswego scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh.
Zach Eldred hit a home run to end the game batting in both himself and Belstio for runs number eight and nine.
Eric Servellon pitched 4.0 innings, striking out nine batters. He gave up two runs and four walks across 18 batters faced.
Michael Heilig finished the game pitching the final 2.0 innings. Heilig let up one hit, striking out three batters across the eight at bats faced.
Brockport will face Oswego in the final game of the three-game series tomorrow starting at noon.
