Auburn, NY – The SUNY Brockport Baseball team fell, 5-3, at Falcon Park in Auburn against the Oswego State Lakers on Sunday to close out the 3-game set. Brockport is now 15-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
Ryan Peters started on the mound today pitching 2.0 innings for the Green and Gold. Peters struck out two batters, let up four hits, and allowed two runs across the 11 batters he faced.
Oswego scored first, putting two runs on the board in the second inning. The Lakers scored their third run in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth leaving Brockport to trail 5-0 heading into the seventh. It was in the eighth inning that Brockport put together a rally hoping to make a comeback late in the game.
Nick Mahar started the eighth inning with a walk, and landed on second when
Brian Tietjen was hit by a pitch.
Josh Indek reached first on an error by the third basemen after he tagged out Mahar.
David Belsito walked followed by
Zach Eldred. Tietjen scored on the walk for the team's first run of the contest.
Cole Traudt then hit a double, sending both Belsito and Indek over home plate for the second and third runs of the game. Brockport left two men on base in the eighth and was unable to score in the top of the ninth, resulting in the 5-3 loss.
Colin Pytlak pitched 3.1 innings, striking out one batter, letting up four hits, two runs and two walks across the 16 batters he faced.
Troy Leibert pitched 1.1 innings, giving up three hits, one run and one walk across seven batters.
Brian Doherty finished out the game for Brockport pitching 1.1 innings, striking out two batters and letting up one walk in four at bats.
The Golden Eagles return home for a Wednesday afternoon matchup against the University of Rochester at 4pm on April 17
th.
