Brockport, NY – The Brockport Golden Eagles defeated the Fredonia State Blue Devils in their final game of the three-game series on Tuesday. Brockport won 12-2 to complete the sweep and is now 13-4 overall with a 3-0 mark in the SUNYAC.
Colin Pytlak started on the mound today pitching 5.2 innings. Pytlak struck out six batters, gave up three hits, two runs and four walks across 19 at bats.
Fredonia scored in the top of the first inning, getting their names on the board early.
Josh Indek led off in the bottom of the first, hitting a homerun on just the second pitch of the at bat, evening up the score.
Fredonia scored once again in the top of the second and lead Brockport 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning.
Cole Traudt got the sixth inning rolling with a single to center field. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Steven Ciancio III singled to left field batting in Traudt.
Matt Mayer reached first on an error by the third basement and advanced to third, Ciancio III scored.
Nick Mahar singled followed by a single from
David Belsito. Mahar advanced to second and Mayer scored. Logan wing then singled batting in Mahar.
Tim McClare pinch ran for Belsito and advanced to third. Wing advanced to second on a fielder's choice. Indek singled to second batting in McClare for run number six and Wing advanced to third. Indek stole second and
Frank Vanzillotta flied out to left field in a sacrifice fly batting in Wing. With the top of the order back up to bat Traudt singled to center field batting in Indek for the eighth and final run of the inning.
Brockport scored twice more in the bottom of the seventh. Ciancio III singled to third base and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Matt Mayer singled to left field brining home CIancio III. Mahar reached first on an error by the second basemen and Mayer advanced to second.
Kyle Blake flied out to center field and Mayer advanced to third. Mahar advanced to second on a balk and Mayer scored. Wing grounded out to the shortstop and Mahar advanced to third.
Josh Indeks singled batting in Mahar for the Golden Eagles eleventh run.
Brockport's
Chris Martin was up to bat first in the bottom of the 8
th and hit a home run off the first pitch, ending the game 12-2 due to the mercy rule.
Brian Doherty pitched 1.1 innings, striking out three batters, letting up no hits and no runs across four at bats.
Angelo Agro finished the game pitching the final inning. Agro stuck out two batters across two at bats.
