Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles split a pair of games today against the SUNY New Paltz Hawks at home. Brockport won game one 5-1 and fell in game two 10-1. Brockport is now 16-12 overall and 5-7 in the SUNYAC Conference.
Game One – Justin Delvecchio started on the mound for the green and gold today pitching 7.2 innings. Delvecchio struck out seven batters, let up six hits, one run and one walk across the 27 batters he faced.
Zach Eldred got the ball rolling for a big fourth inning, with a doubled.
TJ Strevell singled, batting in Eldred for run number one.
Nick Mahar followed that up with a single, pushing Strevell to third before he stole second.
Chris Martin singled, batting in both Strevell and Mahar. He was left on base at the end of the fourth.
New Paltz scored their one run in the top of the fifth.
TJ Strevell started the sixth with a single, followed up by a single form Martin, putting Strevll on third.
Frank Vanzillotta popped up to the center fielder in a sacrifice fly batting in Strevell for run number four.
Brockport locked up game one with the final run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Mahar singled and stole second base. Martin batted in Mahar with a double for the final run.
Angelo Agro finished out the game on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings, letting up one walk and striking out one batter.
Game Two –
Colin Pytlak pitched 4.2 innings for the Green and Gold, striking out six batters, letting up four hits, three runs and two walks across 20 batters.
New Paltz held the lead all the way up till the bottom of the ninth were Brockport scored the one run they needed to put end to the shutout.
Alan Michael LeFrois was walked and then stole second.
CJ Pisano walked and well as
Sean Becker, making the bases loaded when
Jason Mansell reached the plate. Mansell reached first on a fielder's choice earning an RBI for bringing home LeFrois for the one run of the game.
Michael Heilig pitched 2.2 innings, letting up four hits, two runs and one walk. Heilig struck out two batters across the 15 at bats he faced. Ryan peters pitched 1.0 innings, letting up two hits and two runs across 6 batters.
Anthony Lapine pitched 0.0 of an inning, letting up two hits two runs and two errors.
Brian Doherty pitched 0.1 inning, letting up 2 hits and one run.
Connor Furst finished off the game on the mound for the Green and Gold striking out the final batter of game two.
