Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles defeated the St. John Fisher Cardinals, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match up. Brockport is now 17-12 overall and remains 5-7 in the SUNYAC.
Tyler Pohlman started on the mound today pitching 4.0 innings for the Green and Gold. Pohlman struck out four batters across the 18 batters he faced. He let up four walks, two hits and one run.
Zach Eldred got the ball rolling with a single to left field.
Brian Tietjen doubled into right field, batting in Eldred for run number of one the day and on the board for the Green and Gold.
Brockport scored the second run of the day in the second inning.
Nick Mahar reached first on an error by the first basemen.
Josh Indek ground out to third base and help Mahar advance to second.
Ryan Leniec singled to center field batting in Mahar. Leniec stole second but was left on base at the turn of the inning.
St. John Fisher scored a run in the top of the fourth and another in the top of the seventh tying up the score.
The Golden Eagles scored their third run the bottom of the seventh.
Josh Indek singled before stealing both second and third.
Jason Mansell singled with a perfect bunt, bringing home Indek and earning a hit. Mansell was left on base at the end of the inning.
Brian Doherty pitched 2.2 innings for the Golden Eagles, striking out five batters. He let up three hits, one run and one walk across the 17 batters he faced.
Michael Heilig pitched 1.1 innings today, striking out one batter and letting up one hit across the five batters he faced.
Angelo Agro finished up things on the mound for the Green and Gold pitching
Brockport will return to Clark V. Whited tomorrow for a 4pm start against Ithaca College in a mid-week non-conference match up.
