Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Buffalo State, Clinches 1st Round Home Game Saturday

Buffalo, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's lacrosse team closed out its regular season with a 20-10 win on the road against Buffalo State. The Golden Eagles are headed to the postseason after posting a 9-6 overall mark with a 6-3 record in the conference.
 
Cassidy Burnash and Alayna Foos both had big games for the Green and Gold on Wednesday. They both scored five goals to lead the offense. Burnash totaled nine points on five scores and four assists. Foos had seven points with five goals and a pair of assists.
 
Sarah Kilburn complimented her hat trick with an incredible 14 draw controls. Paige Thowe matched the scoring output with a hat trick of her own. Brockport also benefited from goals by Hailey Lewkovich (1G), Tristan Davis (1G), Julia Quinlan (1G), and Amanda Evans (1G).
 
Both teams came to play in the first quarter, playing to a 4-4 tie after the first 15 minutes. Foos scored twice in the opening period to pace Brockport's offense early. The team scored five goals in the second to create a 9-7 halftime lead.
 
Kilburn and Foos both completed their hat tricks in the second quarter to get the team ahead at the break. Burnash would follow suit in the third, as the Golden Eagles opened the game up. They outscored the Bengals, 7-0, in the quarter to enter the fourth up 16-7.
 
Brockport put the game away by winning the final frame, 4-3. Thowe scored twice to finish up her hat trick in the fourth, helping create the 20-10 final to close out the regular season. Arianna Reed made nine saves in a winning effort between the pipes.
 
The Golden Eagles have now officially locked up the No. 4 seed for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. They will host No. 5 Oswego on Saturday, April 27th for the first round of the postseason.
