Potsdam, NY – The Brockport softball team lost both games of its doubleheader on the road at Potsdam on Friday. The Golden Eagles are now 8-20 overall and 2-8 in the conference.
Game 1: Brockport 5, Potsdam 7
The Green and Gold took an early lead in the first game, holding a 3-0 advantage going into the fourth inning. Then Potsdam rallied with a 6-run effort in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead. The Bears added a seventh run in the sixth to go up by four. Brockport's rally in the seventh provided a pair of runs but came up short.
Jackie DuTot hit a double in a 2-for-3 showing with a run and one RBI.
Olivia Simone knocked in two RBIs, going 1-for-3 at the plate.
Tori Angelo produced one RBI as well, going 1-for-1 as a pinch hitter.
Riley Barrett (1-4),
Danielle Wenzek (1-2), and
Grace Talbut (1-1) all had hits as well.
Kendall Phillips (L, 5-6) pitched all 6.0 innings of action in game one of the doubleheader. Facing 31 batters, she allowed 12 hits, seven earned runs, and had seven strikeouts.
Game 2: Brockport 2, Potsdam 10
In the second game of the series, Potsdam was able to score at least one run in all five innings at the plate on the way to a win. Brockport was able to put up runs in the second and fourth inning. The Bears closed the game with 3-run innings in the fourth and fifth to secure the 10-2 win.
Caitlyn Dailey and
Olivia Simone both hit a double in game two. Dailey went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Simone was 1-for-3 in the game.
Aubrey Ennis went 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Grace Talbut (1-3),
Jackie DuTot (1-3), and
Natalie Faas (1-2) all had hits in the contest.
Fiona Gibiser (L, 0-5) got the start in the circle for game two on Friday. Going 4.2 innings she allowed seven earned runs on 15 hits without walking any batters.
The Golden Eagles look to bounce back on Saturday in a doubleheader at Plattsburgh. First game of the day is scheduled for a 12pm start.
