Brockport Defeats Keuka College 9-0 in a Mid-Week Non-Conference Matchup

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles defeated the Keuka Wolves, 9-0, at home on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. Brockport is now 19-15 and remains 6-9 in conference play.

Starting on the mound for the Green and Gold was Colin Pytlak. He pitched 3.0 innings, striking out seven batters across the nine twelve batters faced. He set the tone from the mound right away, as the Brockport pitching staff combined for a season-high 19 strikeouts on the day.

The Golden Eagles got off to a great start with six runs through the first two innings, taking a comfortable lead right away. Cole Traudt (1), David Belsito (2), and Chris Martin (1) each had an RBI in the bottom of the first. After going all the way through the order in the first, the lineup added more runs in the second inning. Traudt had another RBI with a sacrifice fly and a passed ball brought allowed Frank Vanzillotta to touch home plate.

Already with a 6-0 lead, the Green and Gold looked to add to it later in the contest. In the fourth inning, Brockport found its trio of insurance runs to clinch the 9-0 final. Matt Mayer hit an RBI single before Chris Martin's double that brought the final two runs home to score.

Offensively, four Brockport players had multiple hits in the game. Frank Vanzillotta (2-3, 2 R), Kyle Blake (3-3, 1 R), Matt Mayer (2-5, 1 RBI), Chris Martin (2-3, 3 RBI) all had at least two hits. Brockport was aggressive on the base paths with six stolen bases, with both Josh Indek and Vanzillotta each swiping two bags.

Tyler Pohlman pitched 2.0 innings, striking out five batters across the six batters he faced, earning his second win of the season. Connor Furst pitched an inning striking out one batter and letting up one hit. Connor Villano pitched one inning striking out one batter. Braden Pumputis pitched 1.0 inning striking out two players and letting up one hit. Thomas DiGirolomo pitched the final inning for the Green and Gold.

Brockport will return to Clark V. Whited this weekend for the final home games and SUNYAC series of the year. Brockport will face Oneonta on Friday at 3pm for the annual Hometown Heroes game and will return for a noon Saturday doubleheader where the team will celebrate Senior Day.
