Cortland, NY – The Golden Eagles dropped a pair of games Sunday in Cortland. The men battled the first game but fell 5-3 and then lost in the second game 3-1.
Game One – Matt McGowan started today on the mound pitching 6.2 innings for the Green and Gold. McGowan struck out five batters, let up six hits, three runs and no walks across 23 at bats.
Brockport got the day started by scoring two runs in the top of the second, putting the team on the board first.
Nick Mahar singled up the middle followed by a double from
Jason Mansell to left center. Mahar advanced to third.
Aaron Sisto singled through the left side and batting in both Mahar and Mansell but was left on base at the turn of the inning.
Cortland scored its first three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Red Dragons scored two more in the bottom of the eighth.
Brockport scored one final run in the top of the ninth inning when
TJ Strevell hit a home run to left field.
Colin Pytlak pitched 0.2 innings today, letting up two hits and two runs across three at bats.
Angelo Agro finished out the first game pitching 0.2 innings with a strike out.
Game Two – Justin DelVecchio started on the mound in the second game of the day. DelVecchio pitched 5.2 innings, striking out three batters, letting up nine hits, three runs and one walk across 24 at bats.
Cortland scored all three of its runs in the third inning.
Brockport had a big inning in the top of the sixth with a single from
David Belsito and a single from
Cole Traudt but Belsito was tagged out and Traudt was left on base.
Brockport scored its lone run of the game in the top of the eighth.
Brian Tietjen hit a home run to left field putting the Green and Gold on the board.
Troy Leibert finished out the game pitching the final 2.1 innings. Troy struck out two batters, let up one hit, no runs and no walks across eight at bats.
The Golden Eagles will return to the Clark V. Whited Complex on Tuesday April 9
th for a 3:30pm game against RIT.
