Golden Eagles Halted by Cortland in SUNYAC Semifinals

Cortland, NY – On Wednesday, May 1st the No. 4 seed Brockport lost to No. 1 seeded Cortland in the 2024 Women's Lacrosse SUNYAC Semifinals, 15-7. The Golden Eagles have their postseason run halted, while the Red Dragons move on to the conference championship game.
 
On its home turf, Cortland would get off to a great start to set the tone to this semifinal matchup. The Red Dragons won the first quarter, 5-0, to hold a comfortable lead going into the second.
 
Although the Golden Eagles fought back to cut into the lead, they were unable to comeback in this one. Cortland had five goals in the fourth as well to put the game away late.
 
Cassidy Burnash had a team-high four points on two goals and two assists. Burnash also grabbed four draw controls to lead the team. Alayna Foos netted a hat trick with three goals and led the squad with three groundballs.
 
Tristan Davis and Sarah Kilburn both scored one goal for the Green and Gold offense. Brockport's goalie Arianna Reed came up with 11 saves, two groundballs, and one caused turnover on the backline.
 
The Golden Eagles finish up the 2024 season 10-7 overall with a 6-3 record in conference play. They made it to the SUNYAC Semifinals for the ninth consecutive time, including back-to-back trips with second-year Head Coach Bryana Glasser.
