Men's Track & Field Earns 10 All-Region Nods & Multiple National Qualifiers

New Orleans, LA- On May 17th, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the selections for the 2024 NCAA Division III All-Region honors. Along with 10 student-athletes earning All-Region status for Brockport, multiple have also punched their tickets to compete at nationals this upcoming weekend.
 
Michael Durski, Craig Duffy, Ayden Grinion, and Jacob Miller (4x400m relay), Jonathan Zavala (1500m), Jacob Miller (400m), and Matthew Jackson (Hammer Throw), will represent the Golden Eagles men's team at NCAA Championships in Myrtle Beach. The championship meet is set to run from Thursday, May 23rd through Saturday the 25th.

 4x400m Relay: Michael Durski, Craig Duffy, Ayden Grinion, and Jacob Miller (National Qualifiers & All-Region)
 
The 4x400m relay team of Michael Durski, Craig Duffy, Ayden Grinion, and Jacob Miller earned All-Region honors following a successful season for Brockport. The group set a new outdoor program record at the AARTFC Championships, finishing 2nd with an excellent 3:13.25 mark.
 
100m Dash: Craig Duffy (All-Region)
 
Holding the Golden Eagle's program record in the 100m, Craig Duffy earned All-Region status following another strong season. At SUNYAC Championships, Duffy set a new Brockport best in the 100m, finishing 2nd overall with a 10.63-second mark.
 
100m Dash: Derek Grimshaw (All-Region)
 
In his first outdoor season with the Golden Eagles, Derek Grimshaw earned himself All-Region honors. Grimshaw impressed at SUNYAC Championships, running the 5th fastest outdoor 100m in program history, finishing 4th overall in 10.76 seconds.
 
400 Meter Hurdles: Ayden Grinion (All-Region)
 
Both individually and as part of the 4x400m relay, Ayden Grinion received All-Region honors following an excellent season for the Green and Gold. At the Farley Inter-Regional, Grinion recorded the 2nd fastest 400m hurdle time in program history, taking 2nd place at the event with a 53.24 mark.
 
Hammer Throw: Matthew Jackson (National Qualifier & All-Region)
 
Taking the gold at SUNYAC Championships in the Hammer Throw, Matthew Jackson has put together an excellent season for Brockport. Jackson recorded a long mark of 59.64m to earn the conference crown in the hammer throw, recording the 3rd longest hammer throw in outdoor program history.
 
400 Meter: Jacob Miller (National Qualifier & All-Region)
 
Setting a new indoor program record in the 400m, Jacob Miller did much of the same in the 2024 outdoor season. Miller earned All-Region honors following a record-breaking performance at SUNYAC Championships, finishing in 47.65 seconds and setting a new outdoor program record in the 400m.
 
Shot Put: Alex Rood (All-Region)
 
At the Brockport Multi back on April 14th, Rood posted the 4th longest mark in the Niagara Region, taking 1st place with a 15.87m throw in the shot put.

5,000m and 10,000m: Jared Smith (All-Region x2)

Entering the Brockport record books in both the 5k and 10k, Jared Smith earned two all-region selections following an exceptional season. Smith won the SUNYAC Championships in the 10,000m, running the 6th fastest 10k in program history at 31:13.55. Smith also shattered his own program record in the 5k at Farley Inter-Regionals, finishing in 14:30.32.
 
3,000m Steeplechase: Dillon VanDemortel (All-Region)
 
Posting Brockport's 5th fastest time in the 3000m steeplechase, Dillon VanDemortel earned All-Region honors for his performance at Farley Inter Regionals. VanDemortel secured the 5th fastest 3,000m steeplechase mark in the region with his 9:18.73 mark.
 
1500m: Jonathan Zavala (National Qualifier & All-Region)
 
Jonathan Zavala received All-Region honors following a SUNYAC Championship win in the 1500m and excellent performance at the Farley Inter-Regional. Zavala posted the fastest 1500m mark in the Niagara region, finishing in 3:45.74 to set a new outdoor program record.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will head to NCAA Outdoor Championships in Myrtle Beach, SC on Thursday, May 23rd.
