Men's Track and Field Takes 3rd at SUNYAC Championships

Geneseo, NY- The Brockport men's track and field team earned multiple conference champions at the SUNYAC Championships from Geneseo on Saturday, May 4th. The men's team finished 3rd overall with 172 team points, behind only Geneseo and Cortland.
 
Jared Smith earned the SUNYAC Championship in the men's 10,000m, finishing his excellent performance in 31:13.55 for 10 team points. Smith would add a 3rd place finish in the men's 5,000m, finishing in 15:02.96
 
Gabe Giannini took the SUNYAC Championship in the men's high jump, reaching 1.80m for 9 points. Giannini also finished 6th in the men's long jump, jumping 6.65m for 3 Brockport points.
 
Matthew Jackson rose to the occasion, becoming a SUNYAC Champion in the men's hammer throw with his 59.64m throw, good for the 3rd longest in program history.
 
Daniel Reinhart was victorious in the men's pole vault, reaching 4.4m to secure the SUNYAC Championship. The Golden Eagles dominated the pole vault, with Gabe Giannini (2nd, 8 points), Memphis Lohnes (3rd, 6 points), and Corey Suhr (5th, 4 points) all cracking the top-5 for Brockport.
 
Dillon VanDemortel took the silver in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in 9:19.57 for 8 team points.
 
Jonathan Zavala secured the SUNYAC Championship in the men's 1500m, edging out the win with a quick 3:53.19 mark for 10 more points for the Golden Eagles.
 
Jacob Miller finished a close 2nd in the men's 400m, scoring 8 points with his 48.98 mark.
 
Craig Duffy (2nd, 10.63) and Derek Grimshaw (4th, 10.76) combined for 13 points in the men's 100m finals.
 
In the 4x400m relay event, the Golden Eagles claimed another SUNYAC Title. Michael Durski, Craig Duffy, Jacob Miller, and Ayden Grinion placed first with a time of 3:18.53.

Thomas Kressly snagged 5th place in the men's 800m, finishing in 1:57.15 for 4 points.
 
Ayden Grinion cruised to a win in the men's 400m hurdles, finishing in 54 seconds for 10 points and the SUNYAC Championship.
 
Alex Rood (3rd, 6 points) and Jason Marincic (4th, 5 points) finished in the top-5 of the men's shot put, scoring 11 combined points. Marincic would add a 4th place finish in the men's discus throw, recording a long throw of 44.86m.
 
Matt Muscolo finished 5th in the men's discus throw, throwing 42.91m for 4 points.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will head to Williams College in Massachusetts on Friday, May 10th.
