Brockport, NY- The Brockport men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat in their Empire 8 opener at home against Russell Sage on Saturday. September 14th. The Golden Eagles sit at 1-3-1 overall following the loss and 0-1 in Empire 8 play.
After multiple Brockport scoring chances, the Gators would capitalize on their first shot, with Dimitri Gogas burying a low and away shot to put Sage up 1-0.
Despite outshooting Russell Sage 9-2 in the opening half, the Golden Eagles would only record 1 shot on net, entering halftime down 1-0.
The scoring chances would keep coming for Brockport in the 2nd half, recording 5 shots on net to just two for the Gators. Russell Sage goalie Maximilian Bertmann was up to the task, saving all 6 of Brockport shots on goal in the contest.
The Gators would effectively halt the Golden Eagles comeback bid, thanks to El Hadji Iba Sy's goal in the 76th minute to give Sage a 2-0 victory.
Freshman Khadim Amar continued his Iron Man streak, playing all 90 minutes for the 5th straight game.
Max Voyer led all players with 6 shots in the contest (4 SOG).
Trevor Lagarde, Giovanni Cardona, and Andrew Taylor all played the full 90 minutes for the Green and Gold.
