Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team is on the road this week heading to Houghton on Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:30 to face the Highlanders and then to Utica on Saturday, October 5th to face the SUNY Poly Wildcats for a 3pm start.
E8 Player of the Week – On Monday, September 30th,
Jaylah Cossin earned the Offensive Empire 8 Player of the Week honor. Cossin had a total of seven points between two games against Hilbert and Hartwick. At Hilbert, Cossin had a total of four points with two goals. At their home game against Hartwick, Cossin scored yet another goal and added on an assist earning a total of three points in the game.
Last Week's Recap – On Wednesday, September 28th, the Golden Eagles traveled to Hilbert where they shut out the Hawks 3-0 in their last non-conference game of the season. This brought their shutout total to seven.
Jaylah Cossin finished strong with four points on the game from an unassisted goal early on, adding another only nine minutes later with an assist by
Caitlin Nelson.
Katie Hotaling also brought in her first goal of the 2024 season after halftime with yet another assist by Nelson.
Goalkeepers
Karissa Champion and
Emily McCane both found time in between the pipes with 45 minutes each. Both made saves in the game, Champion with one and McCane made two for the Green and Gold.
On Saturday, September 28th the squad hosted the Hartwick Hawks where they celebrated Girls Youth Soccer Day. The team won 4-0 with yet another shutout bringing them up to eight for the season which extends its historical start to the season and one of the best yet in program history.
Amelia Breton opened up the scoring with an unassisted shot to the back of the net minutes before the half. Just four minutes later,
Jaylah Cossin also scored with an assist by
Sierra Edwards with a score of 2-0 going into halftime.
Lyndsey Miller scored an unassisted goal and her first of the 2024 season going on to a header in the net making her second of the game just minutes later with an assist by Cossin.
Goalkeeper
Madeline McCrosson was in net for the Golden Eagles for a total of 90 minutes and made two saves. This brought in her third solo shutout of the year.
Top of Their Class: Eight games into the season, the Golden Eagles rank among the top of the country in numerous individual and team statistical categories.

A look at Houghton and SUNY Poly – The Houghton Highlanders currently sit at 5-3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. They finished up the 2023 season at 7-9-1 overall and 4-4 in conference. SUNY Poly is at 4-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference for the 2024 season so far. Last 2023 season the Wildcats finished up 8-7-2 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
Up Next – The team will start out next week on the road where they face the Nazareth Golden Flyers on Wednesday, October 9th at 4pm and will be back home to play against St. John Fisher on Saturday, October 12th for a 12pm start.
