Albany, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team put its 3-game win streak on the line against the Russell Sage Gators for a conference clash. The Golden Eagles lost to the Gators on the road, 75-64, moving to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in E8 play.
Nathaniel Gordon went off in the opening half, registering a new career-high early on with 16 points in the first. He shot 6-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-3 from long range to pace the Golden Eagles to start the game. He finished with 21 in the contest for a new career best.
Mekhi Beckett stayed hot with 15+ points for his fourth consecutive games, finishing with 16 on the day.
The largest lead of the opening period was a 5-point lead for Sage, but Brockport quickly tied the game back up. Both teams traded blows up until the buzzer in the first half, playing to a, 32-32, tie after the first 20 minutes.
The second half was tight once again most of the way, before Sage created some separation on the scoreboard. The Gators benefitted from their 16-for-21 effort at the foul line in the second half. They would defend home court to take the win, 75-64.
On Tuesday, January 14
th the Golden Eagles will be back on their home floor for a chance to bounce back. They will play host to the SUNY Poly Wildcats at The Vlog for a 4pm start.
