Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at La Roche

Brockport, NY - The Golden Eagle men's basketball team fell to La Roche 86-75 on Tuesday at Kerr Fitness & Sports Center in Pittsburgh, PA. The loss puts Brockport at 7-8 overall and the team remains 5-1 in Empire 8 play.

Brockport's Jakhi Lucas led with an impressive season-high 24 points, hitting 10 of 15 baskets and contributing four rebounds, marking his best scoring output as a Golden Eagle.

Emilio Nabli made a defensive impact with two steals and added eight points. Alex Tavarez scored 10 points while leading with five total rebounds, making five of his 10 basket attempts. Jacob Oka also contributed defensively with two steals and secured five rebounds.

The team began the first half trailing as La Roche scored the initial points with a 3-pointer from Bryce Epps. Despite an early challenge, Alex Tavarez initiated Brockport's scoring with a layup.

Jakhi Lucas led a significant effort with a 3-pointer and a layup, helping narrow the gap to 9-8. The team maintained pressure with contributions from Zachary Rice, who hit a pair of 3-pointers and Tony Arnold's aggression to the rim.

Despite these efforts, Brockport concluded the half behind La Roche, with a score of 45-34.

In the second half, Brockport matched La Roche with an equal half score of 41-41. Jakhi Lucas made significant contributions with successful layups and free throws, helping to narrow the gap on the scoreboard.

Ultimately, La Roche secured the game with late free throws and layups down the stretch.

This game marked the end of three consecutive road games for Brockport, which will now enjoy the advantage of playing at home for six of their next seven games.

The Golden Eagles return home for a pair of conference tilts this weekend at The Vlog. First up is a 7:30pm game against Houghton on Friday night, before the squad hosts Alfred at 4pm on Saturday.
