Brockport, NY—The Brockport women's basketball team will hit the road for a pair of Empire 8 matchups. The Golden Eagles will take on Hartwick on Friday, January 10
th at 5:30 before heading to Russell Sage on Saturday, January 11
th at 2 p.m.
Last Outing: Brockport opened Empire 8 play with a dominant 75-58 win over Utica on Tuesday, January 7
th. The Golden Eagles moved to 8-2 overall following the win and 1-0 in E8 play.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste set the tone on both sides of the ball, scoring a game-high 22 points with three steals in an excellent outing.
Shannon Blankenship turned in a strong performance, dropping a season-high 14 points with five rebounds and two steals.
Cam Tooley (9 rebounds, three assists) and
Kaileigh Hunt (6 rebounds, three assists) scored seven points each to pace the offense.
Claire Turner went a perfect 2-2 from the floor (4 points) with six rebounds.
Ten different Golden Eagles would record a made field goal or better in the win.
Picking Pockets: Ten games into the season, the Brockport defense has been excellent, dominating the turnover battle entering 2025. Five Golden Eagles average a steal per game or better, with
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste and
Peyton Maneri leading the squad with three steals per game. The Golden Eagle defense has forced 149 steals to just 70 allowed.
Bench Boost: Transferring to Brockport for her senior season,
Harmony Philo has added a much-needed shooting boost off the bench. Philo leads Brockport in made three-pointers (21) and three-point percentage (40%), averaging over 7 PPG and recording a made three-pointer in nine of ten games.
Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks currently hold a 2-7 record with a 0-1 mark in Empire 8 play, most recently dropping Tuesday's game with Elmira 52-51. The two teams have met just twice since 2017, with each team earning a victory.
Scouting Russell Sage: The Gators sit at 2-6 on the season with a 1-0 record in conference play, picking up their first E8 win against Keuka on Tuesday. Saturday's matchup will mark the first between Russell Sage and Brockport as members of the E8.
