Houghton, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team took down the Houghton Highlanders in conference play on the road, 2-0, on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles are now 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in Empire 8 play.
Brockport controlled the flow of the game nearly the whole way, outshooting the Highlanders, 15-2, in the match. Brockport also earned seven corner kicks, while Houghton had none.
The first 21 minutes of the game was scoreless, but
Trevor Lagarde changed that at 21:01. Lagarde scored the first goal of the contest, his second of the season, off an assist from
Alex Rivara.
Brockport would enter the halftime break holding onto that one goal lead over the Saxons.
Alfred struggled to create opportunities for the equalizer, as the home team registered just one shot on goal in the outing. The Golden Eagles would add an insurance goal in the 73
rd minute.
Jayden Green found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Green's unassisted score put Brockport on top, 2-0, through the final horn.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road for another E8 matchup on Saturday against the SUNY Poly Wildcats. The match is set for a 1pm start time in Utica, NY.
