Elmira, NY – Brockport snagged its third straight victory with a 3-1 win over Elmira in E8 play on Saturday. After a loss to open conference play, the Golden Eagles are now 3-1 against Empire 8 foes with a 10-7 overall mark.
Brockport would drop the first set against the Elmira Soaring Eagles, 25-23, as they took a 1-0 lead on their home court. However, the Golden Eagles would clean it up for an impressive response.
The Green and Gold went on to dominate the rest of the match to secure the 3-1 win on the road. After a loss in the first set, the squad took the next three by scores of 25-13, 25-12, and 25-13. This included a 13-0 run in the final set to seize control of the match.
Brockport saw a lopsided edge on the stat sheet over Elmira in total points (72-26), kills (43-20), aces (20-5), blocks (9-1), and assists (39-19). The 20 aces matched a season-high for the Golden Eagles this year.
Gianna Felipe was a threat on the serve with a career-high seven aces to go with a team-high 12 digs on the day.
Madisen Jones had a big day for the Green and Gold with a full line of 15 kills (.433 pct), seven digs, and four aces.
Kaitlyn Jewett (18) and
Ava Baty (16) split the work at setter, combining for 34 assists and no errors. Jewett also made an impact on the serve with three aces.
Ana Parella had one solo and four block assists, while
Alenna Williamson got up for three block assists as well. Parella contributed eight kills and three aces, while Williamson had four kills offensively.
The Golden Eagles are now set to return home on October 15
th for a Wednesday night matchup against Geneseo at 6pm.
