BROCKPORT, NY- The Brockport Field Hockey team dropped Saturday's Empire 8 home contest against Nazareth, 6-2, on Saturday, October 18th. The Golden Eagles fell to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play following the loss.
The Golden Flyers stayed one step ahead of Brockport throughout, holding the lead beginning at the 6:57 mark of the first. Michaela Cushman would give Nazareth the lead early in the first quarter.
Down 2-0 in the second period,
Elise Brady would get Brockport on the scoreboard just 3:24 into the quarter. The Golden Flyers would add on another goal late in the second quarter to enter halftime up 3-1.
Nazareth would stay on the attack, netting three goals in the third period. The Golden Eagles would muster a goal of their own in the period, thanks to
Alexis Penree at the 42:19 mark of the third quarter.
Both defenses would take over the final frame, with neither team generating offense, and Nazareth coming away with the 6-2 win.
Katelynn Banning had a strong effort in the loss, making 11 saves on the afternoon.
Terralyn McLaughlin led Brockport with three shots and two shots on goal.
