BROCKPORT, NY- The Brockport Men's Soccer team defeated SUNY Geneseo on the road, 1-0, on Wednesday, October 29th. The Golden Eagles finished the regular season 9-4-3 overall and 8-1-2 in Empire 8 play, securing the #2 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament.
An early Brockport tally would be enough for the victory, with 
Trevor Lagarde finding 
Max Voyer 15:11 into the first half to jump ahead 1-0. The Knights would threaten in the first half with two scoring chances, but 
AJ Nelson would send Brockport into halftime with a 1-0 advantage. 
The second half would see both teams trade scoring opportunities throughout, with 
Mauricio Leiva recording a shot on net in the second half.
Geneseo would turn up the pressure, outshooting Brockport 7-2 (3-1 SOG). With one final chance to tie the contest, 
AJ Nelson would deny Patrick Krough of Geneseo with 11 seconds left to secure the shutout win.
Nelson (W, 8-0-2) notched his sixth shutout of the season, making five stops in an excellent effort.

Parker Warren, and 
Khadim Amar all played 90 minutes for Brockport in strong individual efforts.
For the fourth consecutive season, head coach 
Gary LaPietra has led Brockport to the postseason.
Up Next: Brockport will host the opening round of the Empire 8 Tournament on Saturday, November 1st. The time and opponent are still to be determined.
