Volleyball Bounces Back With 3-1 Win Over Nazareth

Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles bounced back at home in The Vlog with a 3-1 win over Nazareth in E8 play. Brockport is now 8-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play following the victory.
 
In the first set, the two squads battled to an 8-8 tie before Brockport went on a nice run. A 10-2 run for the Green and Gold would lead to a 25-19 win for the first set to go up 1-0. Nazareth would tie the game up at 1-1, after battling Brockport in a close 25-23 score in the second set.
 
The Golden Eagles then answered Nazareth in the third set to retake the lead, 2-1. After they went down, 14-10, the Golden Eagles scored 11 of the final 13 points to storm from behind. Brockport took the third set, 25-21.
 
Brockport would outlast the Golden Flyers in a hard-fought fourth set, 27-25. Nazareth fell behind, 15-7, but would climb back into the game. A clutch 6-0 run for the Golden Flyers tied the set up at 24-24. However, Brockport was able to hold on for the win to take a 3-1 victory over Nazareth.
 
Alexis Sison and Madisen Jones had 11 kills each in the match to lead the offensive effort. Luba Butcher added 10 kills for the Green and Gold.
 
Gianna Felipe led the defensive effort with 21 digs as the Brockport libero. Sison came up with 15 digs in a two-way effort.
 
Kaitlyn Jewett had 19 assists and Lauryn Forand totaled 16 as the team's setters. Jewett also made an impact with four aces on the serve.
 
In the middle, Maddy Howell got up for three solo blocks and two assisted blocks. Alexis Sison, Luba Butcher, and Ana Parella all registered a pair of solo blocks. Regina Salazar chipped in with 1 solo and 2 assisted blocks.
 
Brockport is back on its home court next Friday for a matchup against Keuka College at 6pm in The Vlog.
