Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team preps for a pair of matchups this week, starting at home, where they will host Nazareth University on Wednesday, October 8
th for a 4pm start. The Golden Eagles will then travel to Rochester to face St. John Fisher University on Saturday, October 11
th at 1pm. The squad goes into this week at 7-0-3 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
E8 AOTW – On Monday, October 6
th,
Megan Gerber was announced as Offensive Player of the Week after a pair of strong outings the week prior. On Wednesday, Gerber recorded one goal to contribute to the 4-0 win over Houghton, adding two shots with one on goal.
On Saturday, the team had a strong 9-0 shutout over SUNY Poly, where Gerber recorded a hat trick with three goals, adding on an assist in only 33 minutes on the field. She also put up four shots to help Brockport set a new single-game record for shots (55).
Last Week Recap – The Green and Gold started the week strong with a 4-0 shutout against Houghton.
Amelia Breton opened the scoring book on the day with a rocket to the back of the net assisted by
Lena Turaj.
Lyndsey Miller then fought past the defensive line to put the ball in with another assist from Turaj. Right before the end of the first same,
Chiara Torriani scored her first goal of the season to bring the Green and Gold up 3-0 with an assist from
Lucy Crounse.
The Golden Eagles stayed strong going into the second half, but Houghton also brought the competition. Brockport had a total of seven shots, with the Highlanders following closely behind with five. Just before the end of the competition,
Megan Gerber snuck the ball past the goalkeeper with a pass from
McKenna Slate with only five minutes left.
On Saturday, Brockport had another massive shutout, putting up nine goals against SUNY Poly.
Jordan Chizuk started off the game hot with a goal taken from
Megan Gerber. Gerber kept the ball in her possession and found the back of the net herself. Shortly after,
Kaitlyn Spring showed out with a goal with the assist from
Dinah Gifford. Brockport kept the ball rolling and shortly before halftime,
Amelia Breton snuck the ball past the goalkeeper to bring the Green and Gold up 4-0.
The lead remained at four points for the majority of the second half, until
McKenna Slate added another with the assist from
Marisa Closson to bring it up to five. The momentum didn't stop, with
Alana Yahoudy sending a rocket to the back of the net from
Chiara Torriani. Only seconds after,
Amelia Breton put her second goal in, assisted by Torriani yet again. Just barely two minutes later,
Megan Gerber put her second goal in as well from Breton, and with no hesitation, added a third from
Felicity Contento. This brought the final score to 9-0 on the day.
A Look at Nazareth – The Golden Flyers are currently 4-4-2 on the 2025 season and are 2-1-1 in the E8 Conference. Brockport took the regular-season 5-0 win last season against Nazareth. In the semifinals of the E8 Championship, Brockport put up the fight, but the Golden Flyers brought the competition for the 7-6 shootout victory to move them on to the finals.
Scouting St. John Fisher – The Cardinals currently sit at 6-3-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the conference. In 2023, the Golden Eagles walked away with the 1-0 win against St. John Fisher, but last season, the Cardinals walked away with the 2-0 shutout.
Up Next – Following this week, the Green and Gold will be back on the road next Wednesday, October 15
th, to face Alfred University at 7pm. On Saturday, October 18
th, the squad will host Elmira College at 1pm and look to celebrate Senior Day.
