Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's tennis team hosted SUNY Geneseo in their final home contest of the season on Wednesday, suffering a tough 7-0 loss to the Knights. The Golden Eagles now stand at 2-7 for the year, with a conference record of 1-6.
The afternoon started with the Knights dominating the doubles action, securing the first point by sweeping all three flights.
At first doubles, the pairing of Cara Vasile and Olivia Raschiatore fell 6-1 to Natalie Pipes and JoAnn Catalano. Geneseo's Samantha Rava and Rachel Molloy shut out Olivia Chiu and Leah Banes 6-0 at second doubles.
The closest match was at the third flight, where Gianna Masker and Kathleen Rogers were defeated 6-3 by Talia Wutz and Ashleigh Fredriksen.
Geneseo's strong performance continued into the singles matches, taking all six flights in straight sets.
At the top of the lineup, Cara Vasile was bested 6-2, 6-1 by Natalie Pipes at first singles. Leah Banes fell short against Samantha Rava at second singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Erin McMichael suffered a 6-0, 6-0 defeat against Rachel Molloy in the third singles flight.
The fourth singles contest saw Madison Ballone fall 6-2, 6-1 to Lauren Levatino.
Gianna Masker was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Talia Wutz at fifth singles, and the day concluded with Riley Dunton dropping her match 6-0, 6-2 against Emily Rowe at the sixth spot.
