Field Hockey's Season Comes to an End at Nazareth

BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Field Hockey team fell at Nazareth in the opening round of the Empire 8 Tournament, 5-0, on Saturday, November 1st.

The Golden Flyers wasted no time taking the lead, with Michaela Cushman scoring the opening goal for Nazareth just 51 seconds into the first. The home team would net three goals in the opening period, blanking the Brockport offense.

Despite being outshot 12-4 in the second period, Katelynn Banning and the Brockport defense would stand tall. Banning would make six saves in the period, with Leah LaDuca providing a defensive save to hold the Golden Flyer lead to 3-0 entering halftime.

Nazareth would capitalize on their scoring chances in the third period, scoring twice across five shots on goal. Despite scoring chances from Cassidy Pado and Alexis Penree, Nazareth would maintain a 5-0 lead entering the final frame.

The Green and Gold would pressure the Golden Flyers throughout the fourth quarter, outshooting the home team 8-2. Makenna Hart, Clare Devine, Allison Greene, and Cassidy Pado would all create scoring chances, but goalie Lauren Bachner would secure the shutout for Nazareth.

Cassidy Pado led the Golden Eagles with three shots on net in a strong effort.
