Brockport, NY – The men's and women's cross country teams traveled to St. John Fisher for the Empire 8 Championships. The men's team finished up in fourth place with 102 points, and the women's team clinched a strong third-place spot with 83 points.
Men's Team – In the men's 8k race, JJ Montemaro had a day coming in first for Brockport and 16
th overall at a time of 27:19.0.
Aidan Mayer finished shortly after in 20
th place and second for the Green and Gold at a mark of 27:34.9.
Taking 26
th overall and clinching third for Brockport was Caleb Belanger, crossing the line at 27:53.0.
Chris Cammisa finished up just three places later in 29
th at a time of 27:59.5, and Kyle Deromanis took 31
stplace finishing at a mark of 28:08.0.
Finishing in sixth for Brockport and 34
th overall was Thomas Canestrari with a time of 28:19.0, and taking 39
thand seventh for the Golden Eagles was Ethan Stauffer at 28:31.8.
Montemaro, Mayer, and Belanger all finished out the day earning medals.
Women's Team – Finishing first for Brockport and eighth overall in the women's 6k race was
Salma Moumen with a quick time of 23:14.2.
Ethne Degan also had a day, taking second for the Green and Gold and 11
th overall with a fast mark of 23:19.7.
Emily Leo finished the day, clinching third for Brockport and 22
nd overall with a time of 24:05.1.
Esther Nankumba,
Sierra Basco, and
Maeve Robarge finished right after another with Nankumba taking 26
that 24:24.3, Basco in 27
th at 24:28.1, and Robarge finishing in 28
th at 24:29.4.
Taking seventh for Brockport and 35
th in the race was
Natalie Heselton, crossing the finish line at a time of 24:54.6.
Moumen, Degan, Leo, Nankumba, and Basco each earned hardware following a strong race day.
