Women's Soccer Moves on to E8 Semifinals Following Win Over Alfred

Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team advanced past the first round of the conference tournament with a 3-1 win against Alfred University at home. The win pushes Brockport through to the Empire 8 Semifinals at home once again on November 5th at 4pm against Hartwick. 

Game Recap – The Saxon's started the competition hot with a quick goal just 2:45 in, scored by Sidney Khuns to open the scoring book. Brockport responded quickly to close the scoring gap with a goal to the back of the net made by Amelia Breton and assisted by Diane Lange. The momentum didn't stop there, with Breton putting the Golden Eagles on top with a goal just 14 minutes later, assisted by Lyndsey Miller. The Green and Gold went into the second half with a 2-1 lead. 

Throughout the first period, Brockport had control of the ball, taking a total of 10 shots over Alfred's one. The team's also tied in corner kick opportunities with one. 

The second period started quietly, with Brockport still keeping control over the ball. The team had a total of nine shots throughout the half, over the Saxons' one. They also had the advantage with corner kick opportunities, with one compared to Alfred's zero. Just before the end of the matchup, Lavanya Upadhyay buried the ball in the net for her first of the season, to put Brockport up 3-1 to finish out the matchup. 

Goalkeepers Emily McCane and Madeline McCrosson took turns in the net for Brockport, with McCane taking the first shift and McCrosson in goal for the second period. 

Defenders Lyndsey Miller, Ella Camalleri, and Lena Turaj worked hard on the field protecting the net, each adding 90 minutes to their total.  

Up Next – The Green and Gold are set to host Hartwick College for the Semifinals of the E8 Championship Tournament, which will take place on Wednesday, November 5th at 4 pm.
