Women's Basketball Heads to Penn State Behrend to Open 2025-26 Season

BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team will look to build off a historic 2024-25 campaign in season opener action at Penn State Behrend on Saturday, November 8th at 2 PM.

2024-25 Recap: The Golden Eagles posted their winningest season since 2008-09, finishing the season 24-5 overall and 15-1 in the program's first season in the Empire 8. Brockport clinched the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship, advancing to the Empire 8 Championship and securing an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Numerous Golden Eagle players and coaches received postseason awards, including the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year, Rookie of the Year (Peyton Maneri), and Co-Defensive Player of the Year (Stephanie Jean-Baptiste). Jean-Baptiste, Kaileigh Hunt, and Cam Tooley all earned E8 All-Conference honors, with Hunt and Jean-Baptiste earning USBWA Rochester Area honors.

National Radar: Since joining the Golden Eagles in 2015, head coach Corinne Jones has raised the standard of the Brockport Women's Basketball program. Jones has guided the Golden Eagles to eight postseason appearances since the 2015-16 season. Entering her 11th season at the helm, Jones would lead the Golden Eagles to one of the most successful seasons in program history. Posting a 24-5 overall record and a 15-1 conference record as first-year members of the Empire 8, Jones would coach Brockport to its second-most wins in a single season in program history, winning the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship. Following an appearance in the Empire 8 Championship, Jones would guide Brockport to its first NCAA DIII Championship appearance since 2008-09, the first in her tenure with Brockport. Jones was named the D3Hoops.com Region 3 Coach of the Year in 2024-25, in addition to being named the USBWA Rochester Area Coach of the Year.

Key Returners: Despite significant roster turnover from the 2024-25 season, the Golden Eagles return multiple key contributors from last year's historic season. All-Region Recipient and Empire 8 Co-Defensive Player of the Year Stephanie Jean-Baptiste returns for her senior season. Jean-Baptiste has developed into an efficient volume shooter, shooting a career best 46.9% from the field despite attempting a career high 418 field goals. The Jersey City native has increased her PPG (10.7-15.3-17.5), assists (20-30-66), steals (21-50-67), and FG% (.302-.372-.469) across her first three seasons. Empire 8 Rookie of the Year Peyton Maneri returns for her sophomore season, looking to build on an excellent all-around season. Maneri produced a team-high 2.6 steals per game, adding a team third-best 8.5 PPG in 29 games played (25 starts). Emerging as a key threat off the bench last season, junior Mandy Brink returns looking to build off an excellent second half of last season. Brink posted 10+ points in seven of Brockport's last eight games off the bench, averaging 6.6 points per game on the season. Jackie Kozakiewicz (27GP), Claire Turner (28 GP), Mallory Turner (22GP), Madeline Hoak (20GP), Madison Misser (18 GP), and Josie Wray all return to bolster the depth of the Golden Eagles.

Fresh Faces: The Golden Eagles welcome three freshman additions, made up of Ava Howie, Addy VanDeWater, and Lila Lovgren. Brockport will also welcome the addition of junior transfers Casey Mahony and Brianna Carey, both bringing extensive collegiate playing experience. Brianna Carey joins the Golden Eagles following two seasons at Division II Caldwell University, appearing in 40 games and scoring 216 total points (5.4 ppg). Casey Mahony arrives in Brockport from NJCAA SUNY Niagara, where she appeared in 30 games, averaging seven points, 5.7 rebounds, and nearly two steals per contest in her freshman season. These new additions to the 2025-26 roster look poised to make an instant impact with the Green and Gold.

Coaching Staff: The Golden Eagles welcome multiple familiar faces to the 2024-25 season, many being key contributors to teams of years past. Dyamon Hunter has been elevated to Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator in her third season with the Golden Eagles. Hunter has helped lead Brockport to a 38-17 record over the last two seasons. Former All-Conference selection Zairea Hannah was elevated to Assistant Coach for the 2025-26 season, with Kaileigh Hunt (Assistant Coach) and Harmony Philo (Volunteer Assistant Coach/Social Media Coordinator) joining the staff following a strong 2024-25 season on the hardwood for Brockport.

Scouting PSU Behrend: The Lions are coming off an impressive 2024-25 season, finishing 21-7 overall and a perfect 16-0 in the AMCC. PSU Behrend's season came to an end in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament against Allegheny. The Golden Eagles snagged an 83-62 win at home against the Lions in last year's meeting.

Up Next: Brockport will travel to Newburgh, NY, to take on Mount Saint Mary on Friday, November 14th at 6 PM.
