Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team fell in the final round of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament to St. John Fisher, who took the 1-0 win in overtime.
Faced with tough competition, Brockport stayed strong in a back-and-forth battle in the first period, taking four shots at the net, with Fisher taking five. The Cardinals were at an advantage with four corner kick opportunities, but the Golden Eagles made the effort to keep the ball out of the net, keeping the game scoreless going into the second half.

Emily McCane was in goal for the entirety of the first half, making a total of three saves.
St. John Fisher put the pressure on the Brockport defensive line throughout the second period, adding eight shots to their shot total over the Green and Gold's four. The Cardinals had another two corner kick opportunities over Brockport's one, but Brockport continued the fight to keep the scoreboard from lighting up. Time ticked away, and the game remained scoreless, forcing a 10-minute overtime period.
Madeline McCrosson was in between the pipes for the second half, putting up two saves against the Cardinals' attacks.
In the first overtime period, St. John Fisher was given yet another corner kick, which was successful, giving the Cardinals the automatic victory and the Empire 8 Championship title. Fishers' Francesca Logrippo scored the goal with the assist from Ryann Dauksza.

Megan Gates received the Women's Soccer Torchbearer Award by the Empire 8 for being the student-athlete to achieve the highest cumulative grade-point average in the competition.
The Golden Eagles finished the regular season with a dominating 14-2-4 overall record and went undefeated in conference play for the second time in program history (2006), posting a 10-0-1 record. Brockport also claimed the regular-season title for the second consecutive season in the Empire 8.
Up Next: Brockport will hope to be selected for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship, with the selection show taking place on Monday at 11 am.
