Rivara Recognized Among Nation’s Elite with Scholar All-America Honor

SUNY Brockport men's soccer senior Alex Rivara has been named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Scholar All-American Third Team, further cementing his status as one of the nation's top student-athletes.

The Scholar All-America program recognizes outstanding achievement both academically and athletically. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must be nominated by their head coach, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher, compete in at least 75 percent of their team's matches, and earn significant playing honors during the season.

A nursing major with a 3.92 cumulative GPA, Rivara more than met the academic standards while continuing to excel on the field. The senior started all 18 matches for the Golden Eagles during the 2025 season, contributing four assists from the defensive line while anchoring one of the Empire 8's top backlines.

Rivara's defensive leadership helped Brockport record eight shutouts on the season while limiting opponents to an average of 1.33 goals and 10.1 shots per game. He was a constant presence throughout the postseason, playing every minute of the Golden Eagles' playoff run.

In addition to his Scholar All-America and All-Region honors, Rivara earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team, Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year, and Empire 8 All-Conference First Team recognition. He was also selected to the Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team earlier this year.

The Golden Eagles finished the 2025 season with an 11-5-3 overall record and an 8-1-2 mark in Empire 8 play, advancing to the Empire 8 Conference Championship match. The 11-win campaign marked Brockport's most successful season since 2018.
