Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brockport Dominates RIT, Shoots Lights Out in 84-65 Road Victory

Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team (2-3) delivered a statement performance on Tuesday night, bouncing back from a tough weekend to dominate the RIT Tigers, 84-65, in a decisive local road win. The victory was a showcase of season-best shooting and high-impact individual play, firmly establishing the offensive prowess of the Golden Eagles.

Brockport controlled the game from the opening tip, seizing the lead one minute and thirty seconds into the contest and holding it for the remaining 38 minutes and 30 seconds. The Golden Eagles built a lead that ballooned to as large as 19 points, demonstrating a level of control and efficiency Brockport has been working on   early in the season.

The separation came late in the first half. Brockport went on a commanding 13-5 run to close the frame, setting the tone for the rest of the night. The surge culminated in a spectacular sequence: a clutch three-pointer from freshman Pharell Aybar, immediately followed by a powerful two-hand rim hanger dunk from senior Zachary Rice, sending the Green and Gold into the break with a commanding 43-28 advantage.

Elite Efficiency Wins the Night: The key to Brockport's success was their scorching hot shooting. The team connected on a season-best 52.6% (30-for-57) of its field goals, but the real difference-maker was their accuracy from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles shot an incredible 60% (12-for-20) from three-point range, a drastic and positive improvement over their previous contest and a percentage that RIT simply couldn't match.

The Tigers were held to markedly lower shooting percentages, failing to break the 40% mark from the floor, a testament to Brockport's improved defensive rotations and shot contest effort. The Golden Eagle bench also proved vital, contributing 34 total points to the dominant effort.

Star Performers Lead the Way: Three Golden Eagles finished in double figures, with transfer Camron Dyer leading a deep and balanced attack.
  • Dyer delivered his best performance yet in a Brockport uniform, recording a dominant double-double. Dyer broke out for a game-high and season-high 22 points, efficiently shooting 9-of-15 from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from deep. Dyer was a two-way force, snagging 10 rebounds to secure the double-double, while adding 5 assists and 2 blocks, making his presence felt on both ends of the floor.
  • Freshman Ajani White provided the essential firepower off the bench, leading the second unit with 16 points. White was shooting the laces off the ball, going 4-for-5 from deep, showcasing incredible range and confidence. He complemented his scoring with 3 assists and a pair of rebounds in an electrifying performance.
  • Veteran forward Jacob Oka was an undeniable two-way threat in the contest. He chipped in 11 points and was a consistent presence at the charity stripe, converting a stellar 6-of-7 free throws. Defensively, Oka was disruptive, picking up 4 steals to go with 3 assists and a rebound.
The depth of the Green and Gold roster was also highlighted by two freshmen earning their first career points. Kameron Langdon and Jack Clancy both knocked down a triple, officially adding their names to the scoresheet and contributing to the bench's strong night.

Up Next: Following the successful matchup against RIT, the lengthy road swing finally comes to a close in the Sunshine State, as the Golden Eagles head to Daytona, FL, on Monday, December 15th, to tip off the DME Tournament with a matchup against Piedmont University at 2 p.m.
