BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team will take on #7 John Carroll University from Ohio on Friday, December 5th at 5 PM.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles earned their third straight home victory, defeating RIT, 65-61, on Tuesday, December 2nd. Brockport improved to 4-3 on the season following the regional win.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste provided an excellent all-around performance, scoring a game-high 22 points, three steals, and eight rebounds to lead Brockport to the regional win. SJB has posted 20+ points and eight rebounds or better in each of her last three games.
Claire Turner finished with a team-high nine rebounds, adding seven points and a game-high three blocks in a strong outing.
Brianna Carey was excellent from the free-throw line, going 7-7 with 12 points on the evening.
Addy VanDewater would give Brockport seven points and five rebounds off the bench.
Top of Her Class: Earning two Empire 8 Weekly Awards to begin the season,
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste has been the vocal point of the Brockport offense to start the season. Leading the E8 in PPG (19.4) and field goals (55), SJB has excelled at the national level, with her 55 made field goals serving as the 14th most in the nation.
Swinging and Stealing: Building off an excellent freshman season,
Peyton Maneri has developed into an all-around threat for the Green and Gold. Maneri's 31 assists lead the Empire 8, while also contributing defensively with conference second-best marks in steals (21) and steals per game (3.0).
Home Sweet Home: After suffering back-to-back losses against stiff competition on the road, Brockport bounced back in a big way on home court. Following a crucial regional win over Ithaca in the 58 Main BBQ & Brew Tip-Off Classic, Brockport's 65-61 victory over RIT maintained the squad's dominance in the region. The Golden Eagles have soared to a 4-3 record following a 1-3 start.
Scouting John Carroll: The seventh-ranked team in the country sits at 5-1 on the season, coming off a 65-63 loss at home against #24 Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday. Brockport will be looking to avenge a 92-65 loss against the Blue Streaks last season.
