Brockport, NY – The men's and women's track and field teams are set to kick off the 2025-26 indoor season at the Houghton December Classic at Houghton University on Friday, December 5
th at 3:30pm.

Men's Team 2024-25 Recap:
Last season, the men's team finished the year strong, earning a handful of post season awards and dominating at post season competitions. At the Empire 8 championships, the Golden Eagles finished strong in second place with 166 points, and took ninth at Regionals with 22 points.
Following the Niagara Region Championships, four athletes were selected for All-Region honor including Aaron Ottenwalder, Daniel Reinhart, Gabriel Giannini, and Jonathan Zavala. The squad also had 10 athletes to earn All-Conference accolades from 13 different events including Jonathan Zavala (800m and mile), Derek Grimshaw (60m), Gabriel Giannini (heptathlon, pole vault, and long jump), Dennis Bobbitt (triple jump), Jeremy Chen (60m hurdles), Ayden Grinion (400m), Cardin Chau (high jump), Michael Durski (200m), Kevin Brown (60m hurdles), Owen Arbocus (800m), and the 4x400 team consisting of Michael Durski, Jeremy Chen, Jonathan Zavala, and Ayden Grinion,
Nationals Recap – Following a dominant day at Regionals, Jonathan Zavala and Gabriel Giannini earned the opportunity to represent Brockport at the NCAA National Championships at Nazareth.
Zavala earned his spot to compete in the mile, where he finished first in the preliminary round with a time of 4:10.80. In the finals, Zavala finished with a silver medal, running his season-best time of 4:06.48, leading him to achieve All-American status for the second consecutive year. Zavala was the first athlete in Brockport history to earn the honor in back-to-back seasons, and he finished his final year breaking two school records, taking his own 800m record, and the 3000m record.
Giannini had a performance in the long jump to give him the opportunity to compete at Nationals. Giannini finished in 18
th in the prelims with a 6.88 jump. He had an impressive season with Brockport, taking third all-time in the long jump and dominated in the heptathlon finishing second all-time with 4,753 points, and accumulated three athletes of the week throughout.
Jonathan Zavala and coach John Davis were also recognized as the 2025 USTFCCCA NCAA DIII Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year, and the 2025 USTFCCCA NCAA DIII Niagara Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year following an impressive indoor season.
Women's Team 2024-25 Recap:
The women's team made their mark last season, showing out at Empire 8's with a bronze medal with 97 points, and taking third at Regionals as well with 30 points.
Following the Niagara Region Championships, the Green and Gold had eight All-Region selections including

Jaylah Cossin,
Courtney Bostic,
Monica Cammarota, and
Alexis Rodriguez.
The squad also had nine All-Conference selections following E8's including
Marissa Wise (200m and 400m),

Mia Vizcaino (mile),
Alexis Rodriguez (400m),
Jaylah Cossin (800m),
Sasha Schramm (long jump),
Rebecca Heuler (shot put) and the 4x400 team consisting of
Alexis Rodriguez,
Monica Cammarota,
Courtney Bostic, and
Marissa Wise.
The 2024-25 season was a year for broken records, with the women's team taking the lead with five new times on the board.
Marissa Wise took the 200m record with a time of 25.44 and the 300m at 41.21,
Ethne Degan secured the 800m record at 2:16.69,

Lily Rexford,
Monica Cammarota, and
Marissa Wise earned a new 4x400 record time of 3:56.75, and
Jaylah Cossin,
Marissa Wise,
Ethne Degan, and
Mia Vizcaino showed out with a new DMR record of 12:04.89.
